The Family Care Center at Chilton Memorial Hospital commenced its $5 million renovation with a wall-breaking event on March 28. Beautification of the Family Care Center is designed to present a comfortable, welcoming environment for families. Upon completion, the home-like setting will include new lighting and gentle-toned wood flooring and furniture in Pediatrics, Mother/Baby and Labor/Delivery/Recovery rooms.

Renovations will include:

  • Conversion of patient rooms to single rooms
  • An expanded waiting area to triple its size
  • Colorful décor to help new mothers relax
  • Wireless laptop-compatible workstations
  • Space to accommodate for celebration meals
  • A small spa for massages for the patient and significant other
  • Sleep accommodations within the postpartum rooms for the patient's partner
  • A play area for younger family members, including a large fish tank with colorful saltwater fish
  • Rocker/glider chairs and recliners to provide extra comfort for parents and enable them to gently rock their infants to sleep as if at home

The department-wide beautification also encompasses the Pediatrics area. Colorful décor will adorn the private rooms that are equipped with sleep accommodations for parents. Children will have more options for entertainment with new TVs in each room equipped with video games. A lounge will also be constructed in Pediatrics for parents or visitors to have a calming retreat. "Chilton Memorial Hospital's new environment will complement our excellent healthcare," said President and CEO Deborah Zastocki. "Today is the beginning of a journey to build a facility that will truly capture the essence of the birthing experience and continue to make Chilton Memorial Hospital a destination location for expectant mothers."
